Realisation that summer has passed...

The sunflower has now faded

The long days of Summer are now gone...

But my passion flower is still going strong.

Seeds to gather

and time for me to welcome in Autumn with all her beautiful colours.

This time of year often finds me slightly melancholic ... but the beautiful colours, the conkers, the smokey evenings.. all your inspiring Autumnal posts.. have me in brighter spirits than usual and i am appreciating all that this time of year brings.

Do you have a favourite season or do you love them all?
I have added a poll (on the side bar) if you'd like to vote for your favourite.
Happy weekend

Such a funny time of year, hard to say goodbye to summer but so exciting and the colours of autumn are just delicious.

I love the philosphical side of Autumn - the end, the hibernation, the death before the rebirth. It's a very poigniant thought. It also means I can toast marshmallows over candles and eat myself silly. Not that I needed an excuse to do that ;)

I pressed those glorious red leaves last year and made an autumn wreath. They also make the very best crunchy autumn leaves for autumny parties (if you are that way inclined - I once dried sack fulls of them for a wedding - I do realise I now sound demented like wedding planners from Hollywood movies)
Beautiful photos as always. We are now very soggily frosted.

Hi Ginny, your photos are lovely. Although I love the colours of summer, all of the seasons have their own special qualities, my garden turns red at this time of year which is quite magical. Have a lovely weekend.

I too feel a tad melancholy at this time of year, I suppose it's sadness at saying goodbye to summer.

My favourite though is spring.

Guess what Gin? I'm a daisy! Autumn suggests dark nights, wet dog walks, bare trees, pumpkins, fireworks and that damn book to finish!
Love ya!

What a beautiful post Ginny. I think that Autumn is a special time and the colours here are usually spectacular. Not sure if they will be this year, as it has been so dry - hardly any rain for weeks.

I love crunching through the leaves, frosty mornings and the smell of woodsmoke.

Autumnal colours really do brighten wet autumn days. I love it when the leaves change colour, a walk in the woods at this time of year is just magical.

Lovely photos here...All the season are wonderful for it offers something special to the year. Spring is my favorite, though--when everything is bursting out with beauty, flowers and birdsong! Happy Day ((HUGS))

As a summer lover I am in a desperate state of sadness that we are now watching the final days of warmth pass. That said the joy in the colours of your photos are heart warming...

If you've read any of my recent posts, there are no prizes for guessing my favourite season. I really love autumn and the whole run up to Christmas. Having said that I prefer the crisp sunny autumn days to the dull wet ones we've had the last few days. Love your pictures, especially the passion flower.
